LABBS 2006 CHAMPION QUARTETThese four talented ladies are all members of the White Rosettes. Leeds based ladies barbershop chorus who has achieved the title of National Chorus Champions an unbeaten ten times. Since their formation they have performed at various events such barbershop shows throughout the UK, Leeds Civic Hall, Loughborough Town Hall, Leeds City Varieties, Belvoir Castle in Rutland and as after dinner entertainment for many events and parties in the West Yorkshire Area. They have also had the privilege of representing their association at the National Men’s Convention at the Harrogate International Conference Centre. In January 2006, After Hours were filmed for ITV2’s ‘Lookalikes’ programme. The girls had a lot of fun with what they thought was Ozzy Osbourne ! They also had the pleasure back in March 06 of performing at the at the Benidorm Palace in Spain along with their chorus The White Rosettes and other International Acts The quartet enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience in barbershop & close harmony singing as educators by running coaching workshops for other barbershop choruses and quartets in the UK and Europe and plan to do more of this in the future. They competed nationally within the British Ladies Barbershop Association for the first time in November 2003 and were thrilled to achieve 2nd place nationally on their first time out. They have also competed in the International Ladies Quartet Competition held over in Dublin both in 2003 and 2004 and gained Bronze & Silver medals respectively. November 2006 was certainly the highlight of the quartet’s existence so far, as they became the 2006 LABBS Gold Medallists by winning the National Ladies Quartet Championship in Harrogate. After Hours swept the board by winning trophies in all three of the judging categories plus champagne & prize money too! 2007, After Hours gold medal year has certainly been eventful so far with show appearances in Nottingham and Scarborough, serenading valentines at first direct bank in Leeds and recording their first CD ‘Cheers’. March saw the quartet crossing the Irish Sea where they competed at the Coleraine International Music Festival. Success followed as they won the Barbershop quartet class, prize money and another trophy for the cabinet. They were members of the faculty at LABBS Harmony College in April and had a great fundraising evening in May with fellow barbershoppers and supporters. In July 2007 the quartet represented LABBS on the World Harmony Jamboree in Denver, Colorado. They sang at many events during their week in the USA and certainly made their mark on the American barbershop audiences. Check out the full write up in July’s ‘latest news’ link.
